get some scrap metal
on each voltage setting set wire speed high where it stubs and weld and then back it down to where it is very smooth like back sizzling.
take notes and write down the best wire settings for every voltage setting.
too low wire speed hisses or cracks and pops
too high will stub the wire in the puddle
somewhere dead nuts in the middle is the sweet spot.
write down the sweet spot settings. you may even want to laminate your notes on the side of the machine.
you will always have to make minor adjustments, but having a staring point is very helpful
