Im using a lincon tig and stick welder and I weld a lot of stainless.
if I wanted to try aluminum could I set it to AC , and use 2% thoriated tips with argon and get it to weld decent?
Or do I need helium mix and pure tungsten and a different welder ? Also what is this high frequency welder they keep saying I have to have to do aluminum.

It depends on what machine you are using.
if it already has high freq start built in, you wont need a separate unit.
in other words, if you dont have to touch the electrode to start the arc, you probably already have high frequency start.
argon and 2% thoriated electrodes both work fine on aluminum, but you do need high frequency to start the arc to to keep it smooth on aluminum
