Welding with carbon Dioxide

Why cant I tig weld steel with carbon dioxide...Also I know that each type of Tungsten electrodes have their advantages,But how would you rate them for welding (mostly steel alloys )and occasionally aluminum

---------------------------------------------------

Carbon dioxide is reactive. it will eat your tungsten up.

I used to use 2% thoriated for everything.

now I use 2% lanthanated for everything.

you can use this and that and some of it might work a little better for certain applications but I dont have time for all that.

2% lanthanateed works for literally everything.
