Welding Inside Corners

Jody,
Just starting to learn tig and I'm pretty bad. I've checked out your site and have your video. I can weld 4130 when flat or an outside corner. Inside corners are giving me trouble. Even with similar thickness and clean metal I can't get the sides to heat evenly to puddle and the arc sometimes dances from side to side. Thanks for a great site and your help!

Jack,

sounds like too much arc length. You may need to extend your electrode enough to keep the distance from your tip of electrode to puddle, to around the same as your electrode diameter.

a long arc puddles both sides of the joint but not down in the middle...like what you described.
