Welding in cold temperatures

Can anyone tell me if there is a certain temperature you should not wire weld steel? I am meaning the weather outside, freezing temperatures. Using .072 Hobart wire coreshield 8.

-------------------------------------------------

AWS codes usually require a preheat of the steel to around 65 or 70 degrees if the base metal is 32 or below.

if you follow that, i am not sure if there are other limits for welding in cold weather.

it will definitely affect the cooling rate of the weld and could definitely be a factor.

It is 8 degrees F here in NW Indiana. Can my utility company make a weld outside to connect my home to their gas line?
