welding amperage?
what amperage should i weld a half inch v groove with backing? 1/2 inch bend test with 7018 filler rod horizontal or 2g position

i would probably start at around 120 amps assuming the backing is 1/4" thick.
usually 1/2" thick tests like this for structural work use a 22.5 degree bevel 45 deg included angle with a 1/4" backing strip and 1/4" gap.
120 amps will usually be enough to get the root in as long as you hold the arc tight enough.
