tungsten length

why might you want to stick your tungsten out more for a fillet joint

Marcus,

For T joints, in order to penetrate all the way into the root of the joint, it takes a close arc length....that requires extending the electrode a little bit farther so the the ceramic cup wont bump the metal and prevent the tip of the tungsten from being close enough.

If you are welding a t joint and see a boomerang shape, it probably means you are not holding a tight enough arc.
