I am a gunsmith and have a customer who wants me to weld a titanium 1913 rail to a 4140 1911 .45 frame. I have a lincoln square wave and i have never done titanium before Im not even sure these two metals can be joined. If they cannot be joined is there another material that can be joined to titanium? Thanks for your help.

It wont work. pretty much only titanium can be welded to titanium. some alloys like aluminum bronze will stick to titanium but only work for ornamental purposes, and are still brittle and prone to crack.
