thin bead on aluminum

by wade
(philadelphia pa )

i am tig welding with a old miller econo twin HF. this thing is old lol but it still works. the question i have is when i weld straight beads on an aluminum sheet i dont have any problems they look really good just not wide enough. so when i try to do a angle weld with aluminum its very very tricky. i have to almost draw a bead across both sheets. is there something i can do to widen the bead?

if you are talking about a fillet weld on a tee or lap, usually extending the electrode a bit further helps

also make sure your argon flow is not too high.

about 15cfh with a #7 cup is good.
