In my opinion, the primeweld 225 is one of the best choices in affordable tig welders.

The problem with most other really affordable tig welders is usually the foot pedal and the torch are just bad and clunky.

Primeweld went to extra expense to include genuine ck torches with superflex hoses along with a smooth SSC style foot pedal.

They also have a responsive primeweld equipment users group on facebook and also have demonstrated great customer support

Watch some primeweld videos and you will see what I mean.

If you are looking for a good TIG welder at a very affordable price, the primeweld tig 225x is a great unit.

Not just because its a very good welding machine but because primeweld customer support has been great.

I don't think there is another welder available that is better for the price than the primeweld tig 225x.

Most affordable tig welding machines skimp on the foot pedal and the tig torch.

But primeweld includes a genuine CK worldwide 17 air cooled torch with superflex cables along with a smooth low profile SSC style foot pedal with their 225x welder.

The primeweld tig 325x tig welder has the 2 main settings for great results on Aluminum.
AC balance & AC frequency

  1. Basic Principle: Aluminum has an oxide layer that forms on the surface that melts at a much higher temperature than pure aluminum. This oxide layer can be removed by wire brushing or abrasives but reforms immediately. Alternating Current has a way of removing oxides while welding.  Alternating current AC welding involves the flow of electricity that alternates between positive and negative directions. This alternating current is important for welding certain metals like aluminum and magnesium because it helps to clean the surface of the metal.
  2. AC Frequency Adjustment: AC frequency on a TIG welder controls how rapidly the current switches direction per second. A higher frequency means the current switches direction more frequently, while a lower frequency means the current switches less often. That is why the higher frequency has a higher pitch noise.
  3. Cleaning Action: When the current switches direction to electrode positive, it creates a cleaning action on the surface of the metal. This cleaning action removes oxides and allows for a cleaner puddle.

Pulse settings are not a must have but come in handy sometimes

There are 3 main settings for pulse tig...

  1. Pulses per second
  2. background current
  3. Peak pulse aka Pulse width

Some tig welders have paired down settings and don't allow for adjusting all 3 pulse settings.

The 225x lets you set each one to get the best results.

Personally, I don't like watching a pulsing arc at certain frequencies.

So I typically use a low setting of .7 to 2 pulses per second or much higher speed pulse settings of 33 pps and higher.

The rule of 33 for pulse tig

Have you heard of the "rule of 33"?

That is where you set each pulse setting to 33.

33 pulses per second

33 background current

33 pulse width

The rule of 33 is easy to remember, easy on the eyes, and is helpful for tig weldng on an edge or when filling gaps.
