what does the boilermakers plate weld test consist of

could be anything...but a common plate test is either 3/8" or 1/2" thick 22.5 degree beveled plates with a 1/4" gap and backing strap
sometimes plate tests are open butt with a 37.5 deg bevel and 1/8' gap.
they are administered in all positions depending on the welding requirements of the project
