What AWS certification is needed to weld 2 1/2 inch sch 40 blk pipe?

depending on the application, its most likely a asme section IX certification...not AWS.

however, there are pipe welding tests listed in AWS D1.1 also and in practically all other AWS codes there is a provision for pipe welds.
