overhead welding

by Trent Wilburn

It's a thermal arc welder and my problem is setting volts for overhead mig welding just wondering what im doing wrong. THANKS

---------------------------------------------------

I use just about the same voltage and wire speed for overhead that I would use for flat.

trying to keep the weld flat and prevent sagging by using less voltage and wire speed doesnt work very well. what you need to do is keep the stickout short and weld good and hot and use the force of the arc to drive the bead and flatten it out.

if you are welding with short circuit mig with bare wire .035" diameter and are using 75/25 ar/co2 gas, about 19-20 volts with 240-260 ipm should work....give or take
