non critical aluminum welds ?

(warren,ohio)

first and most important, i love this place" i spend lots of time reading here and learning,thanks..now i have been interested in ac/dc engine welders but the fine print says this is not for critical aluminum welds,i thought if a machine was designed to weld aluminum ,then there is nothing else to say!.what does that mean ?..thanks

It usually means that there is no high frequency starting. in other words, you can weld aluminum, but you have to touch start ...that probably means it could weld aluminum in a pinch, but you probably dont want to buy it if welding aluminum is something you intend to do regularly..

my opinion is that they should not claim it can weld aluminum tig unless it can do it well.

thanks,

jody
