MIG beginner needs advise on direction

Ok, I just started welding (MIG) and have tried a few different directional techniques. Which one should I use?
The pictures below are the 2 ways I have been doing it. I have attached a pic.

Picture A made a nicer looking weld but I have been looking on the internet and it seems like everyone else is doing it like picture B.
What do you recommend?

Picture A works for me for thick stuff

B might work on thinner metal or with a gap
