Lens recommendation

Jody: What is the min lens considered safe for Tig. I use a HF auto dark helmet on 12 and seems too dark. Doug

The ansi z49 safety spec lists 8 as the minimum but only when you are under 50 amps.

Its a combination of amperage and your own comfort or sensitivity of your eyes while using good common sense too. if you paste the url above in your browser and use "control F" to search for "shade numbers" it will take you right to the chart.

When I am tig welding at 50 amps I use a 10 and go up from there for heavier amperage.
