how much root concavity (suck back) allowed on a 2" xxs pipe joint?
--------------------------------------------------
the answer depends on the code used.
some welding codes limit root concavity to 1/32" or about .8mm
others allow for 1/16" 1.3mm
contractors and engineering authority also have option to impose stricter standards if needed for the application.
certain food service type piping might have need to limit concavity more than say a drain line for waste water.
there are also sometimes stipulations on whether it is uniform all around the joint, or localized.
you will need to determine which welding code is being referenced for a more precise answer.
