Flux core welding limits

When using flux cored wire for mig does it limit the mig welder or will it do the same as with shielding gas?

---------------------------------------------------

For small 115v mig welders, it limits how thin you can weld without blowing holes.

and flux core welds are more messy...and require more cleanup than bare wire mig welds done using shielding gas.

But flux core wires are used for bigger welders too.

large diameter flux core wire like 1/16" diameter and larger is used for heavy applications like structural steel on high rises, bridges, and ships.

sometimes flux core is used with shielding gas for heavy steel to provide for good penetration along with good production....fast metal deposition.
