dual shield flux core wires are typically designed to be used with DCEP (reverse polarity).

There are several brand names and classifications and they all require slightly different settings for best results.

METAL TYPE = CARBON STEEL

THICKNESS = 3/8”

WELD TYPE = GROOVE WELD FILL PASSES

JOINT TYPE = butt JOINT 22.5 BEVELS, 1/4” GAP, 1/4” BACKING BAR

POSITION = 4G OVERHEAD

VOLTS = 25 volts

WIRE SPEED = 360 IPM

WIRE SIZE = .045” LINCOLN ULTRACORE 71A85

POLARITY = DCEP

GAS FLOW = 25-30 CFH C25 GAS

CTWD (STICKOUT) = 3/4”-1 “

FILLER METAL = .045” LINCOLN ULTRACORE 71A85

ADDITIONAL SETTINGS =

TIPS: A longer stickout aka contact to work distance CTWD of 3/4” to 1” provides best results Using too short a stickout can result in worm tracks
