TIPS:
The first pass shown is a weave over the root. If you are permitted a slight weave, this can be a good option over the root. Some test administrators and procedures strictly limit bead width so be prepare to run stringers beads all the way but stack them carefully so that you have room to penetrate.
A longer stickout aka contact to work distance CTWD of 3/4” to 1” provides best results Using too short a stickout can result in worm tracks
