Copper to steel welding

by Gary
(South Africa)

Hi there, I saw a guy Tig welding copper tubing to a heavy carbon steel flange using stainless steel filler. Is this practical and or durable? If not, what do you suggest?
Thank you

who knows how long that weld will hold up.

typically, silicon bronze rod would be a good choice.

silicon bronze is basically just copper and silicon to lower the melt point.

its tried and true.

i would go with silicon bronze filler rod for this application.
