Black soot Aluminum NEW
by: MSD

All above is correct. Especially when you drag the puddle it will always soot up. Also make sure your Argon is not contaminated. Switch to a known good bottle of still having trouble.

SOOT PROBLEMS NEW
by: Anonymous

DID ANYONE KNOW THAT IF YOU HAVE BOTTLES SETTING , OR STANDING FOR PERIODS OF TIME YOU SHOULD LAY YOUR BOTTLES DOWN AND ROLL THEM, IMPORTANT FOR MIXES AS WELL. THIS WILL CAUSE SOOT MARKS AS WELL AND ALOT OF OTHER PROBLEMS AS WELL. THANKS 25 YEARS IN THE BUSINESS

The Black Ick NEW

If your new to Aluminum, clean your parts if its heavily oxidized, and remember your carbon steel brush is a no no Stainless steel for Aluminum.

Flow rate of your argon is important, to much is as bad as not enough.

Good luck

temperature NEW
by: Anonymous

If you preheat the aluminium once the optimal temperature is reached most of the soot will burn off similar to annealing the aluminium for bending.
