it may be hard to explain, but here goes. I notice if the round, (any rod), is set in a reasonable heat range it will weld with very little effort by the user. A good example - tack together two standard plates of steel for a standard fillet weld. angle the rod at approximately 45 degrees, starting from the left of the plate start your weld from left to right. do not turn or move your hand from left to right. let gravity move the rod. 7018 will do this beautifully. the rod will move by burning itself shorter. the flux will peel up like a banana peel. try this, it works
