SMAW- Shielded Metal Arc welding aka Stick welding
GMAW - Gas Metal Arc welding aka MIG welding (GMAW-S is short circuit MIG, GMAW-P is pulse spray, GMAW-ST is spray transfer)
GTAW - Gas tungsten Arc Welding aka TIG Welding
FCAW - Flux Cored Arc Welding- both gas shielded FCAW-G and self shielded FCAW-S
these are the 4 main types of arc welding but there are also a few more like :
PAW - Plasma Arc Welding
SAW- Submerged Arc Welding
Shielded Metal Arc Welding is more commonly called "Stick welding" and even sometimes just called "Arc Welding"
