309 tig wire on carbon coupons

hi i was wondering if im taking a 2 inch test on carbon with 309 tig wire should i hang the wire like im welding carbon or just go with a eighth inch gap and burn a eighth inch wire heat on about 70 75 amps

I would go with 1/8 gap and wire.
it should run very much like the carbon steel on the root...maybe better.
